LaFerrari Aperta

20 Sep 2016

At the Paris Motor Show the latest Ferrari was officially presented. LaFerrari Aperta (it. The open Ferrari) is a 960-horsepower spider that the car manufacturer from Maranello has decided to produce in order to celebrate its 70th anniversary, as it is well written in a small icon on the sides of the car.

This model is very similar but also very different at the same time from its standard counterpart. The design of the beloved LaFerrari was kept and maintained as well as the engine. However in order to keep the halo of the original vehicle without the roof, the engineers had to do magic. The structure was strengthened and the bumper and the doors have got a different shape and different material. The most difficult challenge was aerodynamic: being able to handle powerful air flows at high speed without affecting neither the vehicle’s performance or the driver’s comfort.

LaFerrari Aperta seems to have won this challenge since 200 models out of 209 are already sold. The vehicle has not gotten out of the assembly line yet but its buyers are well convinced that it can overcome any technical limitation that its design might be bringing along.

There was a time when cabriolets had lower performance compared to their covered versions and hybrid cars were considered a triviality for a few. LaFerrari Aperta is both a cabriolet and a hybrid car and its performance is so outstanding that it does not even have to be proved.
